You’re creative. You make magic.
But let me guess, you’re tired of making that magic in the margins, between work shifts, school pickups, or doomscrolls. You’ve got a million ideas and a wildly beating heart, but your bank account hasn’t gotten the memo.
Let’s be honest: You didn’t get into this for the money.
But now you want some. And that’s okay.
In fact, it’s more than okay. It’s necessary.
Let’s Burn This Lie to the Ground:
“If I monetize my creativity, I’ll sell out.”
Nope. Not today, Satan.
You’re not selling out—you’re showing up.
For your vision. For your voice. For the people who are waiting to pay for exactly what you offer, in the way only you can.
So here’s the framework. It’s not magic. It’s a system.
Step 1: Make the Damn Magic
This is your creative practice. Your art, your voice, your message. Whether it’s writing, painting, singing, coding, crafting, or alchemizing spreadsheets into poetry — this is the core.
But here’s the thing: Creativity is a muscle, not a muse.
Waiting around for inspiration to strike is a trap. Set a schedule. Make a mess. Make something bad. Make something real.
Ask yourself:
- What do I love making that others keep asking me about?
- What do people thank me for? Compliment me on?
- What comes easily to me that others struggle with?
To help you out, I created a free Creative Monetization Map. Download it HERE:
That’s your zone of creative genius. Don’t wait until it’s perfect. Just make it.
My first creative business was crafting custom wedding gowns. Wild right? Someone told me I was great at sewing, and then someone else heard I had made a wedding gown, and voila! Suddenly I was being paid to make custom gowns. Lucrative, but exhausting work. And well, bridezillas kinda took a lot of the joy out of it for me, so that’s all I have to say about that.
Step 2: Sell the Damn Magic
Here’s where most creatives freeze. “But I don’t want to be salesy!”
Let me lovingly slap that thought off the table.
Selling isn’t slimy. It’s sacred.
It’s the bridge between your magic and the person who needs it.
You’re not pushing. You’re inviting. You’re offering transformation, joy, relief, beauty, inspiration. You’re offering something they want.
You can monetize in a way that fits your style:
If You love this:
- Community & guidance
- Visual storytelling
- Writing & speaking
- Audio/video content
- One-of-a-kind experiences
Try This:
- Coaching, teaching, group programs
- Printables, Etsy, art prints, social content
- Substack, books, workshops, ghostwriting
- Podcasting, YouTube, courses
- Commissions, retreats, immersive events
The secret? Make it easy to buy from you.
Have a link. A price. A way to pay you. Make it sexy and simple. I have a Stripe account for my 1:1s, and a simple but easy to navigate Shopify store for my designs. Both are basically free in that I don’t pay a subscription – I just pay a fee when someone buys something.
Step 3: Repeat (Without Burning Out)
You don’t need to go viral. You need a repeatable rhythm.
Create. Share. Sell. Rest. Repeat.
Build systems that support you:
- Batch your content or creative time.
- Use templates or tools to streamline.
- Have a core offer you can refine, not reinvent monthly.
- Automate where you can — newsletters, payment links, delivery.
And maybe the biggest secret? Don’t scale like a bro-marketer. Scale like an artist.
Stay aligned. Stay soulful. Expand without losing your voice.
Final Truth Bomb
You don’t need permission to get paid for your creativity.
But in case no one told you: I’m giving it to you anyway.
You’re not “too late” or “not ready.” You’re already the damn magic.
Now it’s time to sell it. Then do it again.
